Atrium definition
Approved document B, Fire Safety, Volume 2, Buildings other than dwellinghouses, defines an atrium as:
'A space within a building, not necessarily vertically aligned, passing through one or more structural floors.'
Note: Enclosed lift wells, enclosed escalator wells, building services’ ducts and stairways are not classified as atria.
The plural of atrium is ‘atria’.

'A continuous space that passes through one or more structural floors within a building, not necessarily vertically.'
